Update Settings

The Settings window under System Preferences allows Administrators to update settings in the system: Session timeout, Password minimum length, Password lifetime, Password history, Lock accounts After failed login attempts, and Email password link.

Note: These settings are available to help you meet your company’s policies for securing the data you manage.
Warning: Users are responsible to follow the policies and procedures that govern their business practices when altering security settings.

Session timeout sets the maximum number of minutes of inactivity allowed before the user is logged out of the system. This setting helps to prevent unauthorized users from accessing an account that has been left unattended.
Password minimum length sets the minimum number of characters required for a password. This setting forces users to create more complex passwords so they cannot be guessed by unauthorized users as easily.
Password lifetime sets a password's life in days before it expires and the system requires the user to create a new password. This setting forces users to change their password periodically to decrease the chance it could be guessed by unauthorized users.
Password history sets the number of most recently used passwords that cannot be chosen as new passwords. This helps to prevent unauthorized users from accessing an account by guessing the current password, based on knowledge they may have had concerning a recent password.
Lock accounts After failed login attempts sets the maximum number of failed login attempts the system will allow during a defined number of minutes before locking the account. This setting helps to protect an account from an unauthorized user who is trying to guess the current password through repeated login attempts.
E-mail password link to new users and password resets sends a password link e-mail to new users. If this option is active and an email address is provided during the Add User process, the user is sent an e-mail with a password link. Administrators also have the option to reset all user passwords associated with their organization. See Password Reset.

To update a setting:

Click the Administration tab.

Click the Settings tab, then click System Preferences to make updates.

Note: Checked Settings are enforced by Care Orchestrator. Password minimum length cannot be deselected since user passwords must always be between 8 and 20 characters in length.
Update the Session timeout setting as needed. Administrative users can set the application time out to be between 15 and 360 minutes.
Update the Password minimum length setting as needed. Administrators can set user passwords to be between 8 and 20 characters in length.
Update the Password lifetime setting as needed. Administrators can set passwords to expire between 5 and 180 days. Care Orchestrator prompts users to update their password after expiration.
Update the Password history setting as needed. Administrators can set the number of unique passwords users must use before they can reuse a previous password to be between 1 and 10.
Update the Lock accounts After failed login attempts setting as needed. Administrators can set the number of times users can enter an incorrect password before Care Orchestrator locks their account to be between 3 and 5 attempts. In addition to the number of failed login attempts, administrators can also set the amount of time in which the failed logins must be attempted for the account to be locked to be between 5 and 60 minutes.
Update Email password link to new users and password resets accordingly.
Click on the Save button to save the changes.
