Sleep Report Graphs

This section describes available components of the Sleep report graphs. Graphs may be displayed in multiple sections and the data displayed depends on which section of the report the graph is displayed.

Displayed graphs depend upon the assigned device and selected report template; therefore, some graphs may be selected but not displayed as they are not applicable to the device.

Warning:  The data provided in reports is only one of several elements to consider when evaluating the effectiveness of the therapy. This data should not be used in the diagnosis of a patient's condition.

Graph Label Description
AHI

This graph shows the average number of apneas per night of use.  Apnea events are scaled along the left side of the graph, and therapy dates are displayed along the bottom.

Apnea Events Flags This graph displays event flags for Clear Airway Apnea events (CA), and Obstructed Airway Apnea events (OA), and Hypopnea events (H) and the time at which the event occurred during a therapy session.
Clear Airway Apnea Index (CA)

During an apnea, one or more pressure test  pulses are delivered by the device. The device evaluates the response of the patient to the test pulse(s) and assesses whether the event is a clear airway apnea or an obstructed airway apnea.  The airway is determined to be clear if the pressure test pulse generates a significant amount of flow. This graph shows the average of clear airway apnea events for the night. The apnea events are scaled along the left side of the graph, and the date is displayed along the bottom.

Note:  The Apnea Index is calculated by the total number of apnea events per night divided by the number of therapy hours.

Note:  The Clear Airway Apnea Index graph is only displayed in an AutoSV Advanced device's Long Term Trend section.

Device Usage This graph shows the hourly device daily over a specified time range.  It also shows the best hours of device usage and the Average (Days Used).
Flow Limitation and Vibratory Snore Indices

This graph displays both the Flow Limited Index and the Vibratory Snore Index.

Flow Limitation Index:  Changes in flow limitation are recorded as events.  The index and average values can be used to indicate if there has been a significant degradation in the flow signal, resulting in a pressure increase. The Flow Limitation Index graph shows an average of flow limitation events for the night.

Note:  The Flow Limitation Index is calculated by the total number of flow limitation events per night divided by the number of therapy hours.

Vibratory Snore Index:  The pressure signal is evaluated for the possibility of airway vibration when the patient is inhaling. The Vibratory Snore Index displays the total number of vibratory snoring events per night divided by the hours of use. Snoring events are scaled along the left side of the graph, and the date is displayed along the bottom.

Hours of Usage

The Hours of Usage graph shows the number of hours a therapy device was used over a given time range. The hours of therapy are scaled on the left while the dates of therapy sessions are displayed along the bottom of the graph. The horizontal black line shows the minimum therapy time set.

The flex lines above the bar graph show the average device humidifier settings, the last humidifier setting, the average flex setting, and the last flex  setting used during the report range.

Note:  When a patient receives therapy for less than the set minimum therapy time, the corresponding column of time is shown in red.  All others are green.  Black blocks or columns represent times of blower activity only, which means the device was turned on but the patient did not receive therapy. Larger spaces between the columns indicate days when the therapy device was not used.

Hypopnea Index (HY)

This graph displays an average of hypopnea events for the night. A hypopnea is indicated if there is approximately 79% - 40% reduction in airflow for a duration between 10 - 60 seconds, compared to the average airflow over an extended period of several minutes. Following a reduction in airflow, the therapy device must see two recovery breaths in order to label the event as a potential hypopnea. Hypopnea events are scaled along the left side of the graph, and the date is displayed along the bottom.

Note:  The Hypopnea Index is calculated by the total number of Hypopnea events per night divided by the hours of use. The Average Hypopnea Index, displayed to the right of the graph,  is calculated by dividing the total number of events by the number of therapy hours.

Leak This graph shows the total unintentional leak (measured in liters per minute). This graph displays the average leak rate per night of use. If the chart shows leakage at the large leak level, the leak is excessive and will compromise therapy.  This could be a result of a poor mask fitting. The bar across the top of the graph is color coded to show the times during therapy when there a normal mask fit, a large leak, or when breathing is not detected.
Mask Fit The Mask Fit graph displays the value 100 - %Large Leak for each day across a specified time range. %Large Leak is the percentage of time that the mask leak was so high that it was no longer possible for the device to identify respiratory events with statistical accuracy.
Minute Vent

This graph shows the average minute ventilation (tidal volume x rate) measured per night of use. Minute ventilation levels are scaled along the left side of the graph, and therapy dates are displayed along the bottom.

Note:  The Average Minute Vent, displayed to the right of the graph, is a time-weighted average of days.

Obstructed Airway Apnea Index (OA)

This graph shows the average of apnea events for the night. An apnea is indicated if there is an 80% reduction in airflow for 10 seconds or greater compared to the average airflow over several minutes or if there is no airflow detected for 10 seconds or greater.  The apnea events are scaled along the left side of the graph, and the date is displayed along the bottom.

Note:  The Obstructive Apnea Index is calculated by the total number of Obstructive Apnea events per night divided by the hours of use.

Note:  The Obstructed Airway Apnea Index graph is only displayed in an AutoSV Advanced device's Long Term Trend section.

Patient Triggered Breaths (%)

The Patient Triggered Breaths graph shows the percent of patient triggered breaths per night of use. The percent of triggered breaths is scaled along the left side of the graph, and the therapy dates are displayed along the bottom.

Patterns of Use

The Patterns of Use graph illustrates the amount of therapy and non-therapy time for each session over a given time. Therapy dates are displayed along the left side of the graph while total daily usage times are displayed along the right side of the graph.  Across the bottom of the graph is the time of day, expressed in 24-hour time.

When choosing a time range for the report, you can choose 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, view all the compliance data, a custom time period, or the Best 30 days of compliance. The Best 30 days of compliance option displays the highest consecutive 30-day period within the initial 90 days. Optionally, you can select any Best 30 days within a date range. If multiple 30-day periods with the same compliance score are found within the begin and end dates, the first 30-day period within the specified date range is selected.

The green and red bars depict each night's usage. When a patient receives therapy for less than the set minimum therapy time (4 hours, which is configurable per compliance rule), the bar is red. When therapy is received for more than 4 hours, the bars are green. Black bars or blocks, indicate that the blower is on, but patient breathing is not detected. This may be due to a mask issue or some other problem, which could potentially impact compliance and efficacy of treatment.

In the column on the right, the first number (on the left of the slash) is the total amount of time the patient was connected to the device. The second number (on the right of the slash) is the total amount of time the blower was on, even if the patient removed the mask.

Dates without corresponding bars indicate days when the therapy device was not used.

Percent of Night in Large Leak (LL) The Percent of Night in Large Leak graph is only displayed in the device's Long Term Trend section. This graph shows the percent of time large leak is present. The percent of the night is scaled along the left side of the graph, and the date is displayed along the bottom.
Percent of Night in Periodic Breathing (PB) This graph shows the percentage of time periodic breathing occurred each night over the specified time.
Pressure (cm H2O)

The Pressure graph depicts the pressure values recorded by the therapy device over a given time. The pressure is measured in centimeters of water (cm H2O) or hectoPascals (hPa) and scaled on the left. The therapy session dates are displayed along the bottom of the graph. The Pressure graph is included in details, summary, and trend compliance reports.

Note:  If there are multiple pressure settings on a given day, the last setting of the day is displayed.  Breaks in the lines indicate days when therapy was not used.

Pressure Support (cm H2O) The Pressure Support graph is only  on reports for AutoSV Advanced devices. This graph depicts the average pressure support values recorded by the therapy device over a given time range. The pressure support is measured in centimeters of water (cm H2O) and scaled on the left. The dates of the therapy sessions are displayed along the bottom of the graph.
Pulse Rate (BPM) The Pulse Rate graph shows the patient's heart rate, measured in beats per minute (BPM), during a therapy session.
Respiratory Rate (Breaths per minute)

This graph shows the average number of breaths per minute for each night of use. Breaths per minute are scaled along the left side of the graph, and therapy dates are displayed along the bottom.
