You must have Clinical User,or Clinical Assistant permissions to perform these tasks.

Recording Patient Hospitalization

Clinical users are able to record when patients are hospitalized and discharged.

To Record Hospitalization or Discharge of a patient:  

1. Open the Patient page for the desired patient. For detailed instructions, see View Patient. 

   Patient information displays. 

2. To record when a patient was hospitalized, click the Patient Status button and select Hospitalized.  The Hospitalized window displays.  Select the Admission Date and click Save.

   The Patient Status icon updates to Hospitalized  .  When patients are hospitalized, they are still ACTIVE.

3. To record when a patient was discharged, open the Patient page (see Step 1), and then click the Patient Status button .  The Discharged window displays.  Select the Discharged Date and click Save.

   The Patient Status icon updates to Active  .

   Note: Errors may occur for the following reasons:

   • The Admission Date cannot overlap a previous hospitalization.
   • The Discharged Date cannot be before the Admission Date.
   • The Discharged Date cannot be in the future.

   Note: The Hospitalization displays in the patient Activity Log showing the Admission and Discharge Dates.  If Hospitalization was entered in error, click Delete Hospitalization.
