Initialize Removable Media

To minimize the risk of data cross-contamination with an SD Card or USB drive, Care Orchestrator allows users to initialize removable media devices. This process deletes existing data and adds a Philips folder to the removable media.

Note: The maximum storage capacity for initialized media is 16GB.

Note: The Data Card Utility (DCU) server may need to be updated to initialize removable media. Please follow on-screen instructions to complete this process.

Note: Write-protected (read-only) media cannot be initialized. To proceed, disable the read-only attributes on your removable media device.

  1. Click on the gear symbol next to your user name, located in the upper-right corner of the screen.

  2. Click Tools in the pull-down menu.
The Initialize Removable Media screen appears.

Note:  If the Data Card Utility (DCU) Server is not installed, select the option to Download Device Data Server.  Select the language when prompted then follow the installation wizard to complete the installation.

  1. Click Initialize Removable Media to proceed.

  2. Note:  If you are using Windows 7, yellow highlighted text appears near the top of the window. The message indicates the date at which the Windows 7 operating system will no longer be supported. You will be able to initialize removable media, read media (download), and write prescriptions to the media with Windows 7 up until the stated end date. After that date, a warning will appear and you will be blocked from continuing the operation.

    • If removable media has no data, no icon appears.

    • If removable media has data, the following icon appears:

    • If removable media is write-protected (read-only), the following icon appears:
